Notice of Organizational Restructuring

Universal Materials Incubator Co., Ltd. (UMI) has transitioned to a new organizational structure as of February 1, 2026, spinning off its business functions into separate companies. This structure aims to deepen expertise in each business domain, enable swift and flexible decision-making, and strengthen the development of technologies and businesses within the materials and chemicals sector. Furthermore, UMI will collaborate with companies, researchers, and investors to advance the creation of a value-creation ecosystem capable of addressing diverse societal challenges.

Under the new structure, UMI has established four operating companies:

–UMI Ventures Co., Ltd., which continues UMI’s existing activities, including startup investment and venture fund management specializing in the materials and chemical fields;
–UMI Growth Capital Co., Ltd., which focuses on business succession and buyouts of small and medium-sized enterprises in the materials and chemical industries;
–UMI Value Engine Co., Ltd., which provides PMI and management support for startups after investment; and
–UMI Strategy ＆Finance Co., Ltd., which offers financial advisory and M&A support services.

UMI will continue its efforts as the UMI Group to advance Japan’s materials and chemical industries, supporting the global success of the many new businesses and venture companies emerging from these sectors.
